Community Partners
With approximately 1 in 5 local adults needing improved literacy and/or English communication skills, no one agency can do it alone. The Literacy Council of Sarasota (LCS) relies on its key partners to realize its mission and help make the community more literate.
LCS’ primary partners are our “one-on-one tutors.” These individuals have successfully completed our ProLiteracy-Certified training and volunteer their time to tutor their learners one-on-one, teach an English conversation class or work as an independent contractor as a small group instructor with one of our community partners.
Our other partners include a variety of organizations that provide mission support, financial resources, or referrals. Referral partners are often other non-profits which can be customers as well, such as Goodwill Manasota, Children First, Visible Men Academy, and one of Sarasota’s largest employers, PGT Innovations.
